Dr. Patrick S. Farrell, DVM, MS

Veterinarian / Hospital Founder

A native of Lockport, NY (Niagara County) Dr. Farrell completed his undergraduate degrees at SUNY Alfred and Cornell University. His graduate studies included an MS degree in Reproductive Physiology/Endocrinology and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from The University of Wisconsin – Madison. Dr. Farrell spent 3 years as an embryologist at the Human In Vitro Fertilization Program at The University of Wisconsin Medical School.

He began his veterinary medical career in Jamestown, NY in 1987. In 1990 he moved to Russell, PA and renovated the property of the current hospital facility. On April 1, 1990 Russell Veterinary Hospital, P.C. opened to the general public and has been caring for the community ever since. In February 2017, Dr. Farrell renovated our newest facility and opened Lakeside Veterinary Medicine with Dr. Brooke.

In addition to his hospital work, he is also a dairy consultant for various companies across the US.  He provides his expertise on reproduction programs, barn design, wellness and preventative medicine for dairymen to improve their business. He is a frequently invited speaker to national professional meetings. He is a current member of the Dean’s Advisory Board at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Farrell was a member and the 2017-2018 Chair of the American Veterinary Medical Association Council On Education (AVMA-COE), and currently continues in a role as a site visitor for accreditation visits to Veterinary Medical Colleges around the world.

He is a Past President of The Rotary Club of Jamestown. He is a past member of the Board of the Jamestown Audubon Society, and Boards of the Conewango Men’s Club and the Warren County Humane Society. He resides in Russell, PA and Bemus Point, NY with his wife, Anne. They have 3 sons, Dillon residing in Washington, DC, Carter, currently attending Medical School (human!) in Kansas City, and Aidan at home. Their 4 legged family consists of “Miss Puggy 2.0”, a Pug on the run, “Madison”, the cat with an attitude and “The Gray Catsby”, the escape artist.
